Warrnambool | A City for Living

In the Birds of Lake Pertobe pamphlet, 109 bird species are listed as living in or visiting Lake Pertobe. The pamphlet put together by Birdlife Warrnambool covers all birds from the smaller Malurus cyaneus Superb Fairywren and Phylidonyris navaehollandiae New Holland Honeyeater to the larger Cacatua galerita Sulphur-crested Cockatoo and Threskiornis moluccus Australian White Ibis. As well as waters birds like the Porphyrio porphyrio Purple Swamphen and Cygnus atratus Black Swan and the elusive and endangered Botaurus poiciloptilus Australasian Bittern and raptors, Falco berigora Brown Falcon, Falco cenchroides Nankeen Kestrel and Circus approximans Swamp Harrier.
